That surprises almost everyone. Hand rubbish to an unregistered carrier who fly-tips it, and the householder can be penalised. A transfer note from a registered carrier is what prevents that.

AYA Services Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 14621755, incorporated in January 2023, with its registered office at Office 2d Phoenix Park, Blakewater Road, Blackburn BB1 5RW. We are registered as an upper tier waste carrier with the Environment Agency under [ENVIRONMENT AGENCY WASTE CARRIER REGISTRATION NUMBER], verifiable on the public register.
The reason to care is the household waste duty of care. If you hand waste to someone who is not a registered carrier and they fly-tip it, you can be fined or prosecuted — even though you did not dump it. A transfer note naming the carrier and the destination is your protection, and we issue one every time. We do not take asbestos, clinical waste, chemicals, fuels or gas cylinders; those need a licensed specialist and we will tell you so.
Because under the duty of care, if your waste is fly-tipped by an unregistered carrier, the penalty can land on you. Ask anyone quoting cheaply for their registration number and check it on the public register.
A record of who took your waste and where it went. We issue one for every collection at no charge. Keep it — it is the document that shows you discharged your duty of care.
No. Asbestos and suspected asbestos materials need a licensed specialist, and we stop work and refer you rather than taking a risk with it.
Usually because we are registered, we pay licensed site fees and we segregate for recycling. The cheapest quote sometimes ends with your waste in a lane and a letter addressed to you.
We set aside documents, photographs and anything that looks like it matters, and show you before it leaves. On probate clearances especially, we would rather take an extra hour.
Yes, and it is usually better. We also keep confidential paper and data-bearing IT separate, because a skip full of client files is a data breach.
